Is mental health important?
Stress, anxiety, anger, and depression that go unmanaged can have a major negative effect on your physical being. Stress alone can lead to migraines, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular issues. Mental wellness carries equal importance as physical wellness, and therefore should be a priority.
1 in 4 people are affected by mental illness. Mental illness affects all ages, genders, nationalities, and socioeconomic groups. In order to remove the stigma we must address mental illness, and make it a topic of discussion, and concern.
Seeking help from a mental health provider does not mean that you have a mental illness. If you have experienced a major life change, lived through a traumatic event, have unresolved concerns from the past, or are dealing with a current storm, counseling can help! In acknowledging the need for help you demonstrate strength, which is the first step in taking control over your life.
Diagnosis is not a definition
A mental illness is not an adjective that describes the person you are, instead it is a condition that can be managed. Managing a mental illness can be hard enough in itself, therefore let's minimize labels and remove negative stigma by working together.
